Day 1 Friday. Rome

Upon arrival, meet and greet and transfer to your hotel. Check in at hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Tonight, welcome dinner and introduction by your tour escort. Overnight at your hotel. (D)

 

Day 2 Saturday. Rome / Optional Rome By Night (€)

After breakfast, enjoy a unique guided sightseeing, including inside visits of highlights of religious and ancient Rome: the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo's ceiling paintings and The Last Judgment, monumental St. Peter's Square and Basilica to admire Michelangelo's Pieta. Admire the amazing Coliseum (outside) and the Roman Forum (outside). To make the most of your stay, join our optional Rome-By-Night excursion. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

 

Day 3 Sunday. Rome / Montepulciano / Pienza / Florence (315 km)

After breakfast, you’ll depart by coach through the rolling hills of the Chianti Region. You will reach the hilltop town of Montepulciano, an ancient village full of medieval and Renaissance buildings, famous for one of the oldest wines of Italy "Nobile" of Montepulciano, stop for a visit to a wine cellar in a typical and suggestive atmosphere, tasting wines and local products like ham, cheese, salami etc. Proceed to Pienza the Renaissance ideal town, built by Pope Pius II, well known for its “Pecorino” cheese. In the afternoon proceed to Florence the Cradle of the Renaissance. Overnight at Hotel (B, WT)

 

Day 4 Monday. Florence / Optional of Pisa (€)

After breakfast guided visit of Florence, including the Cathedral (outside), Giotto’s Bell Tower (outside), the doors of the Baptistery, Piazza della Signoria and the Church of Santa Croce, the sanctuary of many famous Italian artists. Time at leisure for lunch (not included), shopping or personal discoveries. In the afternoon possibility of an optional excursion to Pisa to admire the Leaning Tower (outside). Overnight at hotel. Day 5 Tuesday. Florence/Venice (300 km)

After breakfast departure to Venice, the Door of the Orient and the unique city built on the water. Upon arrival enjoy a guided tour of this unique and romantic city. Strolling through the ancient “calli” (the narrow streets of Venice) you will reach the Rialto Bridge (outside) and St-Mark’s Square with the impressive Basilica (outside). Overnight. (B)

 

Day 6 Wednesday. Venice/Verona/Lake Maggiore (360 km)

Breakfast is followed by departure to Verona, one of Italy most romantic city, featuring a wide array of monuments and historic buildings, such as Juliet’s Balcony (the star-crossed lover from the masterpiece by Shakespeare) and the Roman Theatre (outside). Depart to Stresa/Baveno, two quaint, picturesque towns on Maggiore Lake, where you’ll spend two nights. Maggiore Lake is one of most beautiful Italy lakes, known for its splendid climate and sightseeing. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. (B, D)

 

Day 7 Thursday. Lake Maggiore / Optional Isola Bella (€)

After breakfast enjoy a full day at leisure on the shore of the second largest lake of Italy, surrounded by the peaceful and breathtaking scenery of the Alps. Or join an optional (€) excursion to Isola Bella, where you can admire the palace (one of the Borromean palaces) and the beautiful Italian gardens. Dinner and overnight at hotel (B, D)

 

Day 8 Friday. Lake Maggiore / Prosciutto Tasting / Cinque Terre (370 km)

Breakfast at hotel, then departure south through the Po Valley, a major geographical feature of Italy. The plain (in Italian “Pianura Padana”) is the surface of an in-filled system of ancient canyons extending from the Apennines in the south to the Alps in the north. Upon arrival in  Langhirano (near Parma) visit of the Museum of the “Prosciutto” (ham) and cured meats of Parma. The visit allows the visitor to reconstruct the production process, from the pig to the finished product, excellent result of the art of Parma cured meat preparation. The visit includes a light lunch with cured meat and “Parmigiano” cheese and the renowned balsamic vinegar. Continuation to La Spezia, on the Cinque Terre coast. Check-in at hotel and overnight. Day 9 Saturday. Full Day in Cinque Terre (80 km)

Breakfast at hotel. Today discover by train the highlights of one of the most amazing and enchanting landscapes in the world. Five (cinque) villages, suspended between sea and land listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. You will visit Riomaggiore, a village dating from the early thirteenth century, and known for its historic character and its wine “Sciacchetrà”. You will then reach Manarola. Your journey will continue to Monterosso, an ancient fishing village considered the pearl of the Cinque Terre, where you will be overcome by its enchanting beaches. Back to hotel where overnight. Day 10 Sunday. Cinque Terre / Lucca / Vineyard / Siena (240 km)

After breakfast, depart to Lucca, an enchanting old town, particularly famous for its still-intact walls with huge gates and ramparts. Time at leisure to admire the main attractions (such as Cathedral of Saint Martin and the Sarcophagus of Ilaria del Carretto) or to stroll along the picturesque streets full of antique shops.  Continuation to a typical farmhouse that produces oil and wine, where you will have the chance to visit the vineyard or the olive grove. Enjoy a light lunch with home-made dishes along with the locally produced wine (included). The tour will proceed to Siena, where you will enjoy a visit of the old city centre. You will be walking along the medieval streets admiring splendid palaces. The sightseeing tour will end in Piazza del Campo with its spectacular Cathedral (outside). This is one of the most beautiful squares in the world and site of the famous old bareback horse race, called “Palio”. Overnight at hotel. (B, LL).

 

Day 11 Monday. Siena / Assisi / Rome (310 km)

Breakfast at hotel. Leave for Assisi, a great religious town significant of the life of St-Francis. Visit of the great Basilica with its magnificent paintings by Giotto. Continue to Rome, driving through splendid Umbria region, the Green Heart of Italy. Arrival in Rome late afternoon. Overnight at hotel. (B)

 

Day 12 Tuesday. Rome / Pompeii / Sorrento (280 km)

After breakfast, departure to Sorrentine Peninsula, visit of cameo factory before arrive in Pompeii where you will take your time for lunch on your own. Guided tour of the archaeological excavations of this ancient Roman city destroyed and buried by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD and rediscovered at the end of the 16th century. Then proceed to Sorrento. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B, D)

 

Day 13 Wednesday. Sorrento/ Capri/ Limoncello tasting / Sorrento (50 km)

After breakfast, transfer to the harbour and cross to the Isle of Capri, famous since Roman times and favourite vacation spot of the Emperor Tiberius. Arrive at the port of Marina Grande take the funicular up to Piazzetta. Time to explore the Island on your own. Return to Sorrento where you’ll enjoy a tasting of “Limoncello”, the liquor made from the fragrant lemon of Sorrentine Area. Dinner and overnight. (B, T, D)

 

Day 14 Thursday. Sorrento / Roman Countryside (290 km)

This morning leave Sorrento and drive toward Roman countryside In the afternoon arrival in Castelli Romani area (Roman Castles), an isolated group of villages rising from the Roman countryside and have always been a wonderful holiday resort , for the beauty of the landscape, the works of art, the typical local cuisine and the good wine! The first village to visit is Castelgandolfo and its Palace (Pope's summer residence). You continue visiting Nemi village built on the slope of a hill, overviewing Nemi Lake, a former volcano. This village is very famous for its wild strawberries and the beautiful panorama over the lake. The tour will end at a winery for a typical roman dinner. There are few things in the world as enjoyable as a great glass of wine and you will be able to sample some of the best wines that Italy has to offer, as well as various cheeses and meats. Day 15 Friday. Roman Countryside/Airport (40 km)

After breakfast transfer to Rome Fiumicino airport for your return flight home. (B)
